The Life Story
By Kathleen B. Wilson
Presented at this website is the free online pamphlet titled above. Its purpose is to introduce the message and life of Thomas R. Kelly through excerpts from his two short books A Testament of Devotion and The Eternal Promise.
Thomas Kelly (1893-1941) was an earnest, lifelong Quaker and a professor with a desire to reconcile intellect and the reality of God and also to attain the highest level of academic achievement. It was after a devastating personal crisis that he experienced an overpowering “internal influence” which he knew to be God working within—the experience of Presence seeking him. (Quaker Thomas Kelly, Life from the Center, p. 34)
Except for four pages, all of Kelly’s spiritual writings were written during the last three years of his life. He wrote out of his experience in words poetic and powerful—simple yet deep—that call the reader to life from the Center.
